Welcome to the Parent Council section of the Strathaven Academy website. The Council is made up of members of the Parent Forum, which every parent or carer of a pupil at our school is automatically a member of.
The Functions of the Parent Council are:
- Supporting the school in its work with pupils.
- Representing the views of parents.
- Promoting contact between the school, parents, pupils and the community.
- Reporting to the Parent Forum.
Our role involves:
- Identifying and encouraging healthy partnerships.
- Providing information and support to help parents develop their children’s learning at home, in the community and at school.
- Considering ways of providing information that helps parents engage with school and their children’s education.
- Ensuring that parents have the opportunity to express their views and have these taken into account on policy matters affecting the education of their children.
- Helping parents be:
- Involved with their child’s education and learning.
- Welcomed as an active participant in the life of the school.
- Encouraged to express their views on school education generally.
- Ensuring that all parents have opportunities to be involved in their children’s education and learning.
The parent Council normally meet on the first Tuesday of every month, at Crosshouse Campus at 7.00pm.
